Sunday Morning

Good morning. I had a great night of sleep. Still have the crud but I think I will make it. So, the time has finally arrived. After on and off showers today, that should change to some light snow tonight and Monday and could bring a little accumulation to areas of Middle Tennessee, many for the first time this season.

As you can see by looking at the current temperatures, most of middle Tennessee are in the 40's right now. Lower 40's can be found along the Tennessee River and upper 40's can be found down in the southeast corner of the area. Look back at Northwest Tennessee. 30's are all ready popping into the state. Those areas back towards the missouri bootheel are the areas today that will see thier rain transition to a rain/snow mix. For those along the Tennessee river it will be later this evening.

Now, lets take a look at WinterCast to see what the latest timeline is for all of this wintry mess to begin.
By noon today, everyone is middle Tennessee can still expect some light rainshowers as everyone exits church. Though you will be able to feel the colder temps starting to work into the area.
Now, by 6pm tonight, some rain could begin to mix with a little snow in our counties along the Tennessee River. Give or take a few hours. We will just have to watch temperature trends today to see where the changeover line is occuring.

By 11pm Tonight, most everyone of 65 can be getting ready for the changeover. Now again, give or take a few hours if the advancing changeover line slows or speeds up during the day today.

By 3am, everyone in Middle Tennessee should have seen any leftover or wraparound moisture change to a wintry mix or all snow.

By time everyone is up and out the door for work and school, everyone can expect to have some flakes swirling around in the sky. Some moderate snows could develop on the Plateau if a good disturbance can swing around the departing low.

As far as accumulations, things are still tricky. Here is my latest thinking. Things can quickly change. If the right disturbance swinging around the low was too set off some convective snow showers, that could allow for slightly higher accumulation totals. I will monitor the situation throughout the day for the very latest trends of whats going on within the storm to the west and update everyone accordingly.
Keep updated thoughout the night into tomorrow, right here on VolunteerWeather. If we shall receive any school closings in those typically prone areas, we will have those posted to the right of the posts. There you will also find any advisories that may be issued later today from the National Weather Service.

Nice forecast snowman. When I arise in the morning I hope to see Macon scroll across the screen...if we ever get any accumulation at all...we close.
