Winter System Update

Caution: Forecast can change! Winter Forecasting can change from hour to hour!

Sunday, scatter showers will be possible across the entire mid-state area.

By Sunday evening and night, the light rain that is left begins to transition to a wintry mix across the northwestern areas of Middle Tennessee.

Monday morning, just in time for everyone to head back to work and school, a wintry mix should be falling across most of middle Tennessee, excluding some of our southern counties. I think surface temperatures at this time will be above freezing, so roads should be just wet.

Monday afternoon into the evening, any leftover precipitation will be falling in the form of some light snow. Surface temps will remain above freezing until later Monday night. Some areas of the plateau and higher elevations could wake up to a little bit of an icy mess Tuesday morning.

The darker gray area is where I expect a dusting up to maybe a slushy inch of snow. The lighter gray area shows where I believe some light snow will fall, but will likely not accumulate, except maybe on some elevated surfaces. The ground temperature is going to be warm and the ground is also going to be wet, so accumulation is going to be limited for this system. Another update will be issued tomorrow. I will post any notes about tonights model runs if need be. Sinus issues tonight have me thinking I will be in the bed fairly early tonight. God Bless!
