Looks like a nice drought buster is on the way for the first of the week. Here is a look at the latest 5 Day outlook for rainfall totals. Notice the heaviest precipitation falling from Middle Tennessee into the drought stricken area's of East Tennessee.

Now, on the something a little more wintry?
CAUTION: LOW CONFIDENCE FORECAST
Looking into the extended a little bit this weekend as an interesting system looks to be getting some traction in the modeling department. Wednesday night into Thursday looks to be quite interesting. A low pressure system will likely form somewhere along the south, possibly riding the coast. However, as typical during the winter months, lots of things can change. Many times, you hear meteorologists say well if that low was 50-100 miles to the southeast, or northwest, then we would have one heck of a winter storm. Well I hate to be repetitive, but this looks like the case again. If this baby would just nudge a little ways to the northwest, then Tennessee will be sitting pretty with a nice accumulating winter storm. The past 24 hours have shown a little trending towards that but along of things will have to go just right for a storm like this to work out. This is something that will have to be monitored very closely over the next several days. By Monday night and Tuesday we should know what we are talking about a little better, whether it be a wet, white, or dry forecast. There is some potential for a major winter weather storm somewhere in the south by mid to late week. Stay tuned for the very latest.
